Backroads is a place where Pitt-Johnstown students can share their own unique creations. Creativity and personal expression are at the core of this literary magazine. Let your imagination run wild. Show the world what you're truly capable of.
WHO WE ARE: Backroads is the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown's art and literature magazine. We publish the best of student-submitted short fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, plays, and digital/visual art. Our office is located in Biddle Hall, Room 207.
HOW WE DO IT: During the submission period, we take student submissions according to our guidelines. We then select the best works from each category (prose, poetry, visual art, etc.) and publish them in an annual issue that we then distribute - for free!
INTERESTED? Be sure to check out the Submissions page. For questions or comments, see the Contact Us page. Don't forget to check out our various social media pages for current events and news relating to Backroads.
Submissions for our 2021 issue open on January 25th, 2021 and close on February 26th, 2021 at midnight.
